61st Political Studies Association Annual Conference
Transforming Politics: New Synergies
19 - 21 April 2011
Novotel London West
About the Conference
The PSA is one of the world’s longest established political studies associations. The 61st Annual Conference falls 20 years after the end of the Cold War and just 1 year after a historical electoral outcome in Britain. The Conference offers a timely opportunity to debate the extent to which political act and thought has been transformed in recent years and to consider the potency of the new synergies that have emerged. We seek this year to build on past successes and continue with recent innovations. We are particularly interested in promoting cross-disciplinary participation and in showcasing collaborative research. The London location of the 2011 PSA Conference facilitates the participation of scholars and practitioners based abroad as well as in the UK. Particular aims for 2011 include:
• Encouraging a multi-disciplinary presence
• Continuing with developing the international presence further through links with other associations such as APSA, ECPR and IPSA
• Connecting academic research to practice by establishing a wider practitioner presence at the Conference and instituting a plenary Academic – Practitioner debate
